JERKSTORE- #8 Zine: Iron Chic, Gateway District, The Transgressions, The Creeps+
"The newest issue of the Jerk Store zine, number 8 is here. And after getting on board with 6 and 7 I was pretty stoked for this one, add to that the promise of stuff on two of my current favorite bands, Iron Chic and the Transgressions, I was super stoked! Continued in this issue is the sweet layout that not only looks great but makes this thing easy to read. On the first page we get some editorials that verge on rants that are not only entertaining but they make some good points too. Immediately following is a jerk chicken recipe for you foodies. We get a great interview with the Transgressions, this band rules so much Iíll go out of my way to get anything they record if I have to. The interview ruled a lot, top notch job here. After that the short tale of a record store, a nice write up on the Creeps and a no mess around run through of Fest 9. From there thereís no slow down to this one, it goes right into a rad write up on After School Special then brings a good view on the Ďyou had to be thereí factor of punk. Now the half way point we get to the thing I was second most stoked for in this issue, the Iron Chic interview. A solid interview, the good quality Iím starting to expect out of Jerk Store delivers again. After that we get what might be my favorite page of the issue. Calling out labels on their bullshit. Lame shipping and payment practices, pre-orders, more updates than you can keep up with. As this goes on it sounds like a handful of labels that comes to mind, but with my own personal experience Iím pretty sure I know who was in mind during the first two paragraphs. I completely 100% agree with this page. Closing this issue out is a nice interview with The Gateway District and five pages of their quick interviews, always a highlight for me. Again I mostly agree with whatís said here and each review is quick as opposed to most you get now a days that seem more book like. This is another fantastic issue by Jerk Store, a zine which might now be my favorite current running one." - Uncle Critic Blog
